Getting up to Speed

Today is the end of my first week on Vyvanse. I’ve been varying doses. Because I’m using 20mg tabs instead of 10, the jumps are a bit higher, but I haven’t noticed any problems from it. More on this later.

I worked from home on Thursday and Friday.  On Thursday my never-ending laryngitis prompted me to see the doctor.  I didn’t have an appointment, but I’d called first thing in the morning and camped out in the waiting room until they saw me. I was diagnosed with ear and sinus infections and given a prescription for Azithromycin.  I’m used to the process, when it works well: the first couple of days I feel worse as the antibiotic nukes the infection, but by the last dose on day 5 I’m mostly better.  The drug works for another couple of days, so I should be close to 100% by Wednesday, and ready to work out again. I was specifically cautioned against jumping too quickly back into workouts. Let the body rest and heal, and get back into it slowly.

I started with one 20mg tab on Tueday, two on Wednesday, and three on Thursday. I went back down to two on Friday, then four on Saturday, back to four on Sunday.  Today, I did two at 8am and three at 10am for 100mg total.  If how I feel today is any indication, 100mg may be too much, but 80 felt okay. Curiously, my sleep seemed more disrupted with 40mg than with higher doses. 20mg felt too low. 60-80mg felt like the sweet spot. I’ll contact my psychiatrist tomorrow.
